Using the gene pool of CIMMYT cultivars and lines in spring durum wheat breeding in Western Siberia

Background. Preservation and expansion of the source material genetic diversity its purposeful use is basis for development adaptable spring durum wheat cultivars environments Western Siberia. Materials methods. The target research included promising Triticum Desf. developed in Spring Durum Wheat Breeding Laboratory Omsk Agrarian Scientific Center as well gene pool lines obtained under CIMMYT International Cooperation Program. Field trials, disease resistance assessment phenological observations were carried out on experimental fields Institute 2000–2020 according to generally accepted Principal component analysis was using R version 4.0.3 package. Results. studies have shown that differ from local (brown rust, stem hard smut, powdery mildew), test weight, pasta-making properties, lodging resistance, but conditions Siberia they are significantly inferior adaptability suffer greatly drought, especially during grain-filling period. In control studied traits, additive-dominant system with inclusion complementary recessive epistasis prevails. Local dominated most except length, length diameter second internode, where short-stemmed affected degree traits’ expression hybrids. Conclusion. result such activity release cv. ‘Omsky Korall’, which combines high yield, climate Siberia, population Puccinia graminis Pers. f. sp. tritici Erikss. et Henn. Ug99, excellent presence all breeding nurseries.
